Tectonic release - Jakes & Darqwan

This one is for all the dub heads out there. Dubstep has and clearly is continuing to change, especially with a ever growing trend of dub being used on a more commercial scale, which some will say is positive and others will say is a negative. Which ever way you want to look at it all I know is that there will always be artists that will release truly original and quality beats, as well as great record labels on which these tracks are put out on.

This new release from Tectonic really is a breath of fresh air for me. A slightly strange metaphor to use considering the intensity of the tracks but never the less, the drop at the begining and in the middle of the track is dark, uneasy and protruding into a really tribal drum beat which all links in well together and compliment each other on every level. I've always been a Jakes fan, theres just something about his beats which almost pull you into a trance.
The Darqwan track also has a real tribal feel to it but differs for me in that it sounds much more synth like and electronic, its also slightly heavier on the bass than the Jakes track.

Both great tracks in my view, go and cop this for sure.

EAR CANDY: Kele - Tenderoni

"Tenderoni" is the new single from Bloc Party's front man Kele Okereke (Yes!... he has a name and its not the black guy from Bloc Party.... dickheads!) At first I couldn't stand this track, plus the instant thought I had apon hearing the synth keyboard was "Next thing she's wearing my Rolex" (hahaha) However after constantly listening to Tenderoni, drumming it into my head, that thought instantly withered away. Tenderoni is a great track, in my opinion Kele pulled off the "first solo single from a front man of a well known band" move very well... I just hope he rest of the album follows suit.
