London Pirate Radio - PALLADIUM/VICE

Last night vice held a party at the Old Blue Last.
Pictures can be seen here at VICE.

The party was to celebrate the launch of a small documentary about the current state of the pirate radio business in London. The documentary also looks at the origins of pirate radio stations from old sea platforms back in the 50's and 60's. Its a really interesting to watch for anybody that holds an interest in Radio or underground music movements.
The documentary was made in conjunction with Palladium Footwear who have just launched in Europe.
A really great surprisingly educational documentary and I highly recommend a watch.

LUKE "FUDGE" KEMPTON : TATTOO ARTIST

I've known Luke since we started secondary school, He was an amazing artist back then and a funny guy aswell. He has been tattooing for just over a year now and has worked in a couple of different places. He now works at New Skool Tattoos in Ewell Village, Surrey, about 20 minutes outside of London. His tattoo styles and artwork are definitely influenced and very much an old school/traditional style which he has perfected really nicely.
I'm hoping to get booked up with Luke 'Fudge' to get inked up during in the easter break so hopefully will be some more pictures and possibly a small interview.

Drinking the Kool-Aid

Drinking the Kool-Aid is Ed Templeton’s (as far as I know) first London based photography exhibition. Running from Tuesday 6th April till Saturday 17th April at Elms Lesters Painting Rooms, this is one exhibition I suggest you should not miss out on...

Here's a brief description of what the exhibition is about: Ed Templeton explores his upbringing in suburban Orange County, California, through photographs, stories and ephemera from his youth and teen years, giving readers an intensely close and personal look at his coming of age. He weaves disciplinary letters from his grandfather and religious notes from his mother in with telling images and brutal stories, creating an unresolved narrative that offers more questions than answers. Or perhaps the answers are these photographs, paintings, drawings and sketchbook pages, which plunge readers headlong into not just Templeton’s chaotic existence but also his use of art to address its stresses and joys.
Deformer is the culmination of a vision 11 years in the making, and collects over 30 years of material. Its photographs illuminate being young and alive in the suburban domestic incubator and provide a raw and unflinching glimpse into the artist’s own life and the lives around him. Ed will be signing the regular version of the book but also the boxed limited edition version which includes a signed print.

VICE GUIDE TO FILM

Hello boys and girls for anybody that loves good, interesting or different film making, this is defiantly one to keep and eye out for. It comprises of six episodes in total with Shane Smith and Eddy Moretti exploring film in ways and places which have never been seen before. Coming from massively different countries, it gives an insight into the film scene in these places and cultural and social issues which influence them and a wider look at issues in those countries. Look forward to the only ever filmed footage of Kim Jong-ils film studios in north korea and a mexican drug lord funded cinema just to mention a few. If your interested in drugs, gangsters, dictators or generally anything remotely to do with the film scene then this definitely will be worth looking out for. The film series should be droping this week over at VBS.TV

End of an Era

Yes it has gone, my beloved VW Golf Mk 3 has gone to a better land. It was my first car which I have had for about 5 years since I passed my driving test. Unfortunately it was costing to much to run and was getting old and needed alot of work on it, so I had to  sell it for scraps.
Had many happy memories in the old girl with road trips with friends and girlfriends and many other little trips will be sorely missed. Hopefully will not be without car for too long... its to weird not driving and not having a car.

R.I.P. Nujabes

Its saddens us here at Black Milk to hear the news of Japanese hip-hop producer and DJ Jun Seba aka Nujabes, passing in a fatel car accident on February 24th. Myself and Ollie are huge fans of his work and are stunned of his passing. He may be gone but his music will live on forever.... Rest in peace.

BONOBO is back

Bonobo is back boys and girls. His forth album Black Sands is due for release on the 29th March on Ninja tunes, I've been a massive fan of Bonobo for a couple of years now, his tracks are lush and fluid and always relaxing but uplifting. I'm really looking forward to this release after his previous material this is definitely high on my list of purchases. I've just found out that NME are giving away a free mp3 which is a great little taster of the new album and what we can expect from it. you can find the free NME mp3 by clicking HERE.

Here is a video from another one of the new tracks, its a great track with influences from dub, 2-step and soul, its sounds amazing the video is still growing on me. Anyway make sure you keep an eye out for this one its going to be a really great album.

Blackbird Fly

The Blackbird Fly is possibly the sexiest looking toy twin reflex camera I have ever seen. Small and light weight, the BBF also takes 35mm film rather than 120. The camera comes in 6 different colours and cost around £70 or so. This is one toy reflex camera I must own.
